Ingredients
- Pearl Onions
- Pickling Vinegar
- Water
- Salt
- Sugar
- Pickling Spice
Directions
Here's a quick and easy pickling recipe from Denali. First we need some clean onions. Start off with taking the paper off the onions and dropping them in boiling water for about 30 seconds. From the hot water transfer them straight to cold water for 30 seconds as well. This makes the outer layer easier to take off.
Combine your vinegar, water, salt, and sugar and bring this mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Add the onions, simmer for about five minutes, bring it back up to a boil, then bring it down to a simmer for another 5 minutes.
Add your pickling spice into your jars followed by your onions and pickling liquid. Wipe the rims of the jars and seal finger tight with your Denali Lids!
Finally place the jars in a water bath canner and boil for around 15 minutes. After taking them out, let them sit for 24 hours then proceed with checking the seal and store them away!
